Asociación Castaño y Nogal

Dear friends,

The non-profit Castaño y Nogal association is currently organizing the V. Edition of the International Workcamp that will take place from 16^th till 31^st of August, 2014 (http://www.asociacioncastanoynogal.com/InternationalVoluntaryCamp.html), in order to carry on with the cleaning, signalization and maintenance works of the 18 km-long Quintá-Río Donsal path, which is homologated by the Galician Hiking Federation under the PR-G 159 Code.

In the last four editions of the Workcamp, 45 volunteers coming from 16 countries and 4 continents took part together with the core team and national volunteers. This has allowed to discover and to give value to the nature, landscape and ethnographical wealth of the Donsal and Navia river basin that was hidden before, opening up new perspectives for dinamization and rural tourism growth of the Cancelada area.

This project, implemented during the crisis (2010-2013), brought hope where there wasn’t, received institutional recognition from the Association for the Protection of Historical Heritage, which considered it as an exportable management model, the virtue on the example under own, with acceptance in more than 23 Spanish and foreign media. Due to the fact that this project is being carried on without any support from public institutions, you are welcome to collaborate on this noble cause through a small in-kind contributions, by chèque or cash deposit in order to fund food purchasing, small working machinery, materials, sign posts, prevention clothes, computer equipment and temporal renting of another means like a 4×4 vehicle.
